Thailand's Life-Giving Rain Tree
The Rain tree, also known as Suar Tree or Monkey Pod, is a remarkable member of the Acacia genus and has become an integral part of Thailand's landscape and culture. Locally called "Chamchuri", this adaptable species thrives across Thailand, offering both environmental benefits and economic opportunities. As part of the Acacia family, it is renowned for its resilience and ability to grow in diverse conditions. Northern Thai farmers cultivate these trees for their valuable resin, while artisans skillfully transform the harvested wood into exquisite furniture, kitchenware, and decorative items. With its umbrella-shaped canopy providing shade against tropical downpours, this majestic tree truly lives up to its name as Thailand's beloved Rain Tree.
Acacia wood is celebrated for its stunning grain and rich appearance, but its high moisture content requires proper treatment for durability. In our process, all acacia wood undergoes heat treatment to reduce moisture and protect against termites. After harvesting, the logs are cut to size and dried outdoors under sunlight for 1-2 days. They are then placed in an oven at 60-70°C, with treatment time depending on the wood's thickness. A digital moisture meter ensures the wood reaches the ideal 12-15% moisture content, making it ready for production. This careful process guarantees high-quality, long-lasting products.
